Young cabbage’s taste is sweeter and milder than the old one.

Young cabbage has more water that’s why it’s faster to cook.

It’s also healthier, it has more vitamins, especially vitamin C.

Young Cabbage Recipe

Easy cabbage recipe.

Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 young cabbage
  • 0.5-0.7 lb of smoked bacon (may be replaced with butter)
  • 1 cup of water
  • salt, pepper
  • a bunch of fresh dill (optionally)

Instructions

  1. Remove the outer leaves of cabbage.
  2. Wash the cabbage and chop it finely.
  3. Put the chopped cabbage in the pot and cover it with 1 cup of boiling hot water. Cook for about 15-30 minutes, until soft.
  4. In the meantime, chop the bacon and fry it on the pan.
  5. When the cabbage is soft, drain it (in necessary), add fried bacon with fat, and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add chopped dill (optionally).
