Tips For Making Polish Meatballs In Dill Sauce
Meatballs Should Be The Size Of Walnuts.
You can make them bigger or smaller, however, the size of the walnut would be perfect.
Use White Meat.
Polish meatballs in dill sauce should be made from the light meat, for example:
- chicken
- turkey (see my turkey with dill sauce recipe)
- kalfsvlees
- konijn

Add Fresh Or Dried Dill.
Fresh dill will definitely make the dish taste better, however, dried dill will work just fine. You can even use frozen dill if you happen to have it in the fridge.

My mom?s Polish meatballs in dill sauce recipe.
Ingrediënten
- Gehaktballen
- 1 lb / ½ kg of minced meat (chicken or turkey)
- 1 ui
- 1 ei
- ½ theelepel zout
- ¼ tsp of black pepper
- ½ tsp of dried marjoram
- olie
Dill Sauce
- 2 kopjes water
- ½ theelepel zout
- ¼ tsp of black pepper
- 3 pimentbessen
- 2 laurierblaadjes
- 5 juniper berries
- ½ cup of heavy cream
- 4 tbsps of flour
- a handful of chopped dill
Instructies
Hoe Poolse Gehaktballetjes Maken?
- Peel, dice an onion and sweat it on oil.
- Combineer met de rest van de ingrediënten en mix tot je een gladde consistentie krijgt.
- Start forming meatballs. Each should have a size of a walnut.
- Bak gehaktballen in olie (3-5 minuten aan elke kant) of bak ze in de oven (392°F / 200°C gedurende 10-15 minuten).
How To Make Dill Sauce?
- Kook water met kruiden.
- Mix the cold heavy cream with the flour.
- Als het water met kruiden begint te koken, zet je het vuur uit.
- 3-5 minutes later, start pouring the heavy cream with flour very slowly, stirring constantly.
- Add chopped dill and cook fr another 2-3 minutes.
Laatste stappen
- Voeg gehaktballetjes toe aan de saus. Serveer warm.
