Add 1 ½ cup of water, ½ cup of vinegar, 1 tsp of salt, ½ tsp of sugar, 3 bay leaves, 6 allspice berries and 15 black pepper balls into a pot. Stir and let the mixture come to a boil.

Part III – Cook For 5 Minutes And Then Add The Onion
Let the mixture boil for approximately 5 minutes. Add the onion and turn off the heat immediately. It is important to turn off the heat immediately because it lets the crunchiness of the onion remain.
Part IV – Leave The Onion In The Hot Mixture For 3-4 Minutes
Make sure to leave the onion in the hot mixture for 3-4 minutes. This is when the onion will absorb the flavor from the mixture. Once this is done, drain the onions. Make sure not to throw away the mixture because we will use it at a later stage in the recipe.

Part V – Rinse The Onion In Cold Water
Now rinse the onion rings in cold water. This step ensures that the crispiness of the onions remains.
