How To Make Vegan Pączki?

Step 1 – Make the yeast dough.

Knead all the ingredients for the dough using your hand or food processor. It’s best to do it in a big bowl because the dough will double or even triple its size.

After 5-10 minutes of kneading, cover the bowl with a clean kitchen cloth and place it in a warm place. Wait for 1 hour for the dough to double its size.

Step 2 – Start making pączki

One hour later, transfer the dough to a pastry board dusted with flour. Knead the dough briefly to remove excessive air bubbles.

Roll out the dough to about ½” (1,5 cm) thick.

Step 3 – Cut pączki shapes

Using a cookie cutter, cut out the circles from the dough. Remove scraps, reroll, and recut.

Cover pączki with a clean kitchen cloth and wait for about 30 minutes to let them grow a bit.

Small dough rounds, reminiscent of vegan pączki, rest on a wooden surface, partially covered by a red checkered kitchen towel.

Step 4 – Fry vegan pączki

Pour the oil into the wok or big pot and start heating it up.

How to check whether the oil is hot enough? Throw a small piece of the dough into the oil. If it stays on the bottom, the oil is still too cold. The oil is ready to fry if the dough comes straight to the surface.

Fry pączki for about 3-5 minutes on each side.

After frying, place the pączki on a plate lined with paper towels to remove the excessive fat.

Step 5- Fill Pączki

When the vegan pączki are still warm, fill them up with jam using a big syringe (like this). You will need about 30-50ml of filling per donut.

Step 6 – Decorate pączki

Dust your vegan pączki with powdered sugar. You may also pour the sugar glaze or chocolate frosting on top.

Yes! You can use the method I show in this post.

Make sure you put just a little filling, otherwise, the pączki will be heavy and they won’t fry easily.
