This dish is fast, easy to make, and what’s the most important- DELICIOUS! The key to getting the perfect creamy tomato salad is good quality of veggies.

It’s easy to achieve in the summer but a little bit more difficult in the wintertime. However, there are some tricks that will make even the hard and pale tomatoes eatable. Keep on reading to find out what to do to have yummy, ripe tomatoes regardless of the season.

How To Store Tomatoes?

Never keep tomatoes in the fridge!

The reason is simple- tomatoes are growing in how countries, so keeping them in the fridge will make them tasteless.

What’s more, studies have shown, that bringing them back to the room temperature after keeping in the fridge for a while, will not make bring their taste back. The damages are irreversible.

Keep tomatoes in the warm, dark place.

It’s easy to love tomatoes in the summer. However, what you usually get in the supermarket are hard and pale veggies that don’t taste like tomatoes at all… What to do to make them eatable?

Place them inside the kitchen cabinet/ cupboard for a couple of days. The room temperature will make them ripe and gain flavors.

Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 big ripe tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 4 tbsps of sour cream
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and dice the tomatoes.
  2. Peel and dice the onion.
  3. Put tomatoes and onion inside the bowl and add salt.
  4. If you have time, wait for a while for the tomatoes to release their juice.
  5. If you are in a hurry, add sour cream, and mix all the ingredients together.

Notes

If you want the dish to have fewer calories, you can use natural/ Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.

You can skip an onion or add chives instead.

The salad tastes best when served fresh. It won't be as good after and hour or two.

  1. Sour cream is my default salad dressing. Peeled sliced cucumbers and dill may also be added. One of the best ways of eating a tomato. Unsightly or overripe fruits can be used.
