How To Make Prażonki?
Step 1 – Prepare a Campfire or Heat-Resistant Vessel
Any vessel will work, just make sure it will be big enough to put all the veggies & meat inside.
Step 2 – Peel & Slice The Veggies
The vegetables that need to be peeled and sliced are:
- potatoes
- beetroot
- carrots

Step 3 – Peel & Cut Onions Into Half-Moons
Get your onions ready by cutting them into half moons.
Step 4 – Prepare The Bacon & Sausage
Cut out the skin from the bacon. Cut the remaining bacon into small strings/ cubes.
Slice the sausage.
Step 5 – Lay Prażonki In A Vessel
Lay the dish in the following order
- Bacon skin
- Cabbage leaves (just to cover the bottom)
- Half of the potatoes
- Salt & pepper (½ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of pepper)
- Onion
- Beetroot
- Carrot
- Sausage
- Bacon
- Half of the potatoes
- Salt & pepper (½ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of pepper)
- Cabbage leaves (just to cover the potatoes)

Step 5 – Bake & Eat
Place the vessel in the oven or campfire. Bake for 90 minutes in 355°F (180°C).

Ingredients
- 7 lbs (3kg) of potatoes
- 9 oz (250g) of whole smoked bacon
- 11 oz (300g) of carrot
- 9 oz (250g) of onion
- 2 ½ lbs (1kg) of sausage
- 1 large beetroot (6 oz /180g)
- 8-10 large cabbage leaves
- salt
- pepper
Instructions
- Cut out the bacon skin. Place it on the bottom of your campfire / heat-resistant vessel.
- Cover with cabbage leaves (they should cover the entire bottom of the vessel)
- Peel and slice potatoes into thin slices.
- Place half of the potato slices on the cabbage.
- Season with ½ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of pepper.
- Peel and cut onion into half-moons. Place it on the potatoes.
- Peel and slice the beetroot. Place it on the onion.
- Peel and slice the carrot. Place it on the beetroot.
- Slice the sausage, then place it on the carrot.
- Peel and cut bacon into strings/cubes. Place it on the sausage.
- Cover with the remaining potatoes.
- Season with ½ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of pepper.
- Cover with cabbage leaves.
- Bake in 355°F (180°C) for 90 minutes. Serve warm.
