Wreaths And Christmas Traditions

Interestingly enough, wreaths originated in ancient Greece and Rome. There are many theories about how the wreaths came to be used as a symbol of Christmas. One of the most popular beliefs is that the circular nature of the wreath represents eternity. It is also said to represent never ending life. For Christians across the globe, the wreaths soon began to represent Christmas.

Another interesting theory is that the wreaths originated from the ?coronas? that were placed on ancient Roman heads. This was a symbol of nobility. One that was later used to represent the nobility of Christ.

Today you will find wreaths used in all households. Many Christian households have four candles placed in their wreaths. Each candle is a symbol of one Sunday of advent. The last candle is lit on Christmas.

That is why the Christmas wreath salad makes such a festive addition to the table. Plus it is fun to make and you can even get the kids involved.

Balsamic glaze works the best for this salad. If you do not have access to Balsamic vinegar, try using fresh lemon juice instead. It won?t pack the same punch but it will work in a pinch.
