How To Make Buckwheat Chicken Bowl

Polish buckwheat with chicken is easy to make in less than 30 minutes.

You start by slicing the chicken breasts into strips and frying them with sliced onions, butter or pork lard on a low flame.

While that’s frying, cut the bell peppers into strips and keep ready.

Once the chicken is done, move it to one side of the skillet or wok and add the bell pepper next to it.

Place the buckwheat in the middle and cover it with bay leaves and other spices. Immerse the buckwheat in water and cover with a lid.

Allow the buckwheat and other ingredients to simmer for about 20 minutes till soft. And it’s ready to serve!

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp of oil / olive oil / butter
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 yellow bell pepper
  • ½ cup of buckwheat
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tsp of dried marjoram/basil/ any other herb
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • 2 allspice berries
  • 2 bay leaves
  • a pinch of pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the chicken breasts into strips.
  2. Peel and cut the onion into half-moons.
  3. Fry chicken breasts and onion with 1 tbsp of oil, butter, or any other fat on low heat.
  4. In the meantime, wash and slice bell peppers into strips.
  5. Move chicken and onion to the side of the skillet/wok.
  6. Place bell pepper strings on the other sides of the skillet/wok.
  7. Place buckwheat in the middle.
  8. Add 1 cup of water, don't stir.
  9. Add spices, cover the skillet with a lid, and simmer for about 20 minutes until the buckwheat is soft.
  10. Serve cold or hot.
