Polish muller beer

If you haven’t been to Poland, chances are you have probably never heard about Polish mulled beer. In fact, for many, the idea of hot beer may be inconceivable. Trust me, during the cold winter the hot Polish mulled beer definitely hits the spot and warms you up from inside out!

Often you will find that Polish mulled beer is a featured beverage alongside Polish mulled wine. It isn’t always called mulled beer though. Polish mulled wine is more popularly known as Grzane Piwo where ‘Grzane’ means ‘heated’ and ‘Piwo’ refers to ‘beer’.

Due to the way Grzane Piwo translates, people may sometimes refer to the Polish mulled beer as Polish warm beer. Despite the name, Polish mulled beer is not served warm (or cold for that matter!). In fact, Polish mulled beer is served hot.

The Polish mulled beer recipe is extremely easy and it gets done in under 5 minutes. That is inclusive of preparation time! This makes a great quick fix in case you have guests over during the Christmas season.

FAQs About Polish Mulled Beer

What Is The Difference Between Mulled Wine And Mulled Beer?

Aside from the fact that these recipes use two different alcohols, you will find that the mulled wine tends to be sweeter. There is a slight difference in the spices used. Mulled wine uses cinnamon and cloves while mulled beer uses the same spices but adds star anise to the mixture too.

Some people who do not like star anise may prefer mulled wine over mulled beer.

Why Should Polish Mulled Beer Not Be Boiled?

Polish mulled beer should be heated but should be removed from the flame before it begins to boil. This is because the alcohol in the mixture evaporates. That reduces the overall alcohol concentration of the Polish mulled beer and changes the overall taste.

Should Polish Mulled Beer Be Strained?

Most people prefer to strain Polish mulled beer. This is because people do not like to have stray pieces of spices in their drinks. Keeping the spices in the mixture, however, lets the infuse beer better. The best way is to choose to strain the Polish mulled beer just before serving it.
