Today I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite Polish spread recipes. I make it at least once a month. The author of this Polish smoked mackerel spread recipe is my dad who used to make it for me when I was a kid.

When I was too young to make it myself, I asked him to buy a smoked mackerel, farmer cheese, and make this delicious spread for me.

He carefully picked all the fish bones, making sure the spread is smooth and easy to eat.

Right now I am a parent myself. My three-year-old daughter loves Polish smoked mackerel spread just like I loved it when I was her age.

What’s more, my hubby who hates fish says the spread is good enough to have it for breakfast.

Remove All The Fish Bones!

The only thing that may go wrong when making Polish smocked mackerel spread is not removing all the fish bones.

It’s not nice to find a bone while eating, so make sure to remove all of them.

Add Tomato Paste If You Want

If you want to change the color (and taste!) of the Polish smocked mackerel spread, add 1-2 tablespoons of tomato paste.

Serve It With Bread

The spread is perfect to put on the sandwich. You can also have it solo, as a snack.
