These are particular beneficial in the winter season because pine shoot syrup acts as an expectorant which is great when you have one of those nasty winter colds. For this recipe, you will need about 2 lbs (900g) of pine shoots. Clean the pine shoots and remove the insects that may be in them. Do not wash them.

Part II – Place A Handful Of Pine Shoots In A Big Jar

Part III – Cover With Some Sugar

Cover the pine shoots with some sugar. Don’t use all the 450g of sugar as you will need it when repeating the process.

Part IV – Repeat The Process

Keep repeating the process till you use all the pine shoots and sugar. This will give you multiple layers of pine shoots and sugar.

Part V – Twist Off The Jar

Seal off the jar and keep it aside. The sugar will melt and absorb the flavor of the pine shoots. This will form the pine shoot syrup that you will use. This process will take 2-4 days.
